Harper Jean Tobin posted about One Time Donation on Facebook 2017-01-18 17:26:24 -0500Just made a donation to HIPS - you should too!
Across the country, COVID-19 has disrupted networks for care and systems for survival.
Here at home, Washington DC has announced funding cuts for services to homeless residents, just as the one-two punch of the oncoming winter and a new surge in COVID cases threatens them further.
HIPS received a 15% cut to our needle exchange and overdose prevention programs for 2021
– in the middle of a pandemic and spike in overdoses.
Your donation today will be put into action immediately, providing meals, non-judgmental harm reduction services, community engagement, and advocacy for folks in street economies at a time it's needed most.
We envision a world where all people engaged in sexual exchange and drug usecan use their power to live healthy and self-determined lives free from stigma, violence, criminalization or oppression.

Your monthly donation means that HIPS can stay relevant and responsive to community needs!
Last year HIPS' Pink Members helped create new employment opportunities at HIPS for current and former sex workers, supported learning opportunities for our thousands of community members, and so much more.
A donation of $10 per month or more automatically enrolls you as a HIPS' Pink Member, and you will have access to our Pink Member newsletter, special events, and access to special swag and discounts.
Welcome to the HIPS family!

Help Us Make Change and Improve Lives in 2019
I've made a big commitment to giving in support of HIPS, and I hope you will too. Here's why:
Because HIPS makes a difference every day and every night. You probably know HIPS providers safer sex materials, syringe exchange, testing, and support groups through our drop-in center and outreach van. Did you know we also provide shower and laundry facilities, a clothing closet, community lunches, and housing assistance?
Because HIPS literally helps save lives. HIPS has been DC's leader in making life-saving naloxone available to reverse opioid overdoses.
Because HIPS serves the trans community. More than 1 in 3 HIPS clients is transgender. In effect, HIPS is one of the leading organizations serving trans people in the region.
Because HIPS is expanding health services. We provide STI and primary care clinics, Medication-Assisted Treatment for opioid use disorder, and Hep C treatment.
Because HIPS is stepping up to change policy. HIPS is working to ensure a voice for our clients in DC's budget and policies and decriminalize the lives of our clients, including advancing our groundbreaking bill to decriminalize sex work in DC.
Basically, HIPS is one of the most awesome organizations ever.
But all of this costs a lot of money. Expanding our services and staff and improving our drop-in and office space are serious expenses and we need your help.
The best way to give is to set up a recurring monthly donation -- see the link above. Monthly giving is an easy way to step up your support and helps HIPS count on funding we can use as we plan to strengthen and expand our work.
